Guard Duty Guide
This is the guide to Guard Duty, a Halo machinima series centering on a group of guards who get more than they asked for after complaining too much. Ongoing since 2011.
SERIES
Guard Duty
Guard Duty is a Halo machinima series created by Syp. It centers on the security guards stationed on Outpost Black Out (and later Outpost Cold Storage) as they complain about their lives and end up getting roped into something they didn’t ask for. The first season consists of 8 episodes that aired from 2012 to 2013, plus a pilot that aired in 2011. It utilized the Halo 3 engine on Xbox 360. The second season, airing since 2022, is set to have 8 episodes. Like its predecessor, it initially utilized the Halo 3 engine on Xbox 360 for its first three episodes, though switched to Halo: The Master Chief Collection‘s version on Xbox One starting with Elsewhere. Guard Duty Sides is a series of shorts, utilizing the Halo 3 MCC engine, featuring the main characters. It currently stars Intro-Mind, Ella Rhee, Xanthe Folan, and Syp as Geff, Sarah, Nicole, and June (+ Miller) respectively.
WarGames
WarGames is a Halo machinima series, acting as a companion to Guard Duty. Taking place before and during Guard Duty: Season 1, WarGames centers on a group of robots built for the UNSC Infinity’s war games simulated series of firefight matches being retrofitted for real military operations. It consists of seven episodes, with one more on the way, that have aired in 2013 and 2022. It has utilized the Halo 3, Halo: Reach, Halo 4, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, and Halo 2: Anniversary engines on both Xbox 360 and Xbox One. It is divided into two volumes, with the second being referred to as Story Mode. It primarily stars Speakonia as the robots, while Syp provides additional voices.
Rat’s Nest
Rat’s Nest is an upcoming Halo machinima miniseries created by Syp and developed with Blankslate_GG. It will center on the guards of the eponymous outpost before its destruction during the events of Guard Duty: Season 1. It is set to air sometime in 2023, utilizing the Halo: The Master Chief Collection engine on Xbox One.
Major Malfunction
Major Malfunction was a short-lived Halo machinima series created by Syp with LizDanceTV, MozzyWozzy, and Chron Aldazaar in 2012, with one episode made in 2013. It centered on the security guards stationed on Outpost High Ground as they get ambushed by an unknown attacker and are forced to flee the base. There are three versions of this series that are designated as The Original Series (4 episodes), The Firelight Series (2 episodes), and the standalone episode Up in Smoke. While not originally considered canon at the time of its creation, The Original Series (not including Up in Smoke) was retroactively added to Guard Duty canon with WarGames Vol. 2, revealing the fates of the main characters after the events of that series. It utilized the Halo 3 engine on Xbox 360.
